This weekend I will be heading to bcf to get some nav light and what not for my hobie sport,
So if anyone can tell me or show me some photos of how they have rigged up safety lights that would be great,
Look forward to your feed back

Re: Lights for snapper season
Hi Jesse, here are a couple of photos of what I have done.
Its pretty simple, I just brought some pvc from Bunnings and a 45 degree join.
its connected to the rocket launcher I made up and contains
1 An all round white light connected through the join
2 Two bike lights that connect around the thin pole of the all round light
3 A work light from Jaycar that everyone was raving about (connected using the u clips that it comes with). This way it detaches and I can use it around the deck if required.
Used it last weekend and was re-tying stuff easily.
Hope it helps

I decided that I needed light for safety and for seeing at night so killed two birds with one light, found a 12v waterproof flexible led strip on ebay and spiraled it down a pvc pipe.
It's ridiculously bright as you can see by the photo's Since these pic's I have been more ridiculous and added more leds
here's an updated pic
I took these pic's with the flash off
I just slide the pvc pipe in one of my scupper holes and have a loop of bungy holding it secure
It's connected to my sounder battery, it's one of the best things I did to the yak as I love night fishing.
All up cost me about $20.

hey Jesse Im with Jaryd on this one. Stole his idea when he posted it and it works a treat. ordered two strips and only used one, the second was damaged so they sent out a third which was also damaged although not as much. still got half the length of PVC to. the strips still work its just that the outer coating is cracked in a couple of places. your welcome to them if you want. at least it will get you out on the water sooner and you wouldn't have to wait for delivery.
cheers

Also is installing them and having the sounder on a problem?

Sorry don't recall the store, Jaryd would be best to answer that one or look up his previouse thread. I wouldent recommend where I got them from anyway as 1 good strip out of 3 that were sent isn't all that great a record. As for sounder I don't have one . Sorry for the lack of good info as Im not that tec savy. Can tell you they were about $16 I thinkg factor wrote:coudl one of your guys shoot us a PM with the link to the ebay store you purchased the LED strips from? The post Brett is talking about has links and a pretty good write up on how i went through with it.
Just look in DIY section topic was LED lights by 4x4yak.
Anyone looking into lighting the yak with lights this bright should beware, like in (Herbie's and my pic's) that having it behind you is definitely the way to go, otherwise you will struggle seeing anything.

Re: Lights for snapper season
Hey G,
I haven't had any problems with the lights and sounder running from the same battery.
Those cheap ebay imitations could be what i bought as i just searched ebay for the cheapest option.
