I was wondering recently, how difficult it would be to make a lure from scratch?
So with all this free time, I had a look through some of the above websites, and came across this one.

While I appreciate there are probably a few of you already making your own fly lures, I would love to try making a deep diving lure that might interest a snapper

Not at all. There's plenty of videos on the internets (Marling Baits https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCa-xsr ... fPFE1TK7OQ based in the US has a TON of great videos as does Paul Adam from the UK - https://www.youtube.com/user/paulpadam), and there's also http://lurelovers.com/forum/ from here in the land of Oz. Pauls has a lot of different kinds of info from shallow runners, jigs, soft plastics etc. I bet you could make something useful with what you have at home already. If you're really interested I can throw a few bibs and hangers in an envelope for you to try out - they're cod sized bibs so maybe a touch small for deep snapper but should get you started.

I started making a few stick baits earlier this year.
I've only had one chance to use them but the kings weren't there on the day.

If you have basic tools it's really much easier than you'd think.
Marling Baits on youtube is where I learnt from.

Here's a 110mm suspending stick bait that I planned to use on the salmon this season but covid had other plans.

That looks the part One of my favorite tv show was Big angry fish an Nathan used to make skoots out of feathers and glitter hair, so I made a few last year for snapper and must say they did quite well, and found them good for anything really but as usual its always hard to go past the favorite lure when chasing snapper lol
