Fluorocarbon leader
I bought some 16Lb leader from rig master, since buying this and making some paternoster rigs using a surgeons knot to tie the droppers to the trace, i have been loosing fish at a very high rate due to the dropper breaking of at the knot, am i tying the knot wrong? Is rig master fluoro of poor quality? Or could it be a bad batch.

I use Vanish even though it’s expensive and haven’t noticed any similar problems.
I grab a few spools from America which came in at about $15 a spool. Local prices are bloody ridiculous! I generally use 6ib locally but up to 8 for Mallacoota and 12 for offshore. By the time you buy a couple of each size, you have enough for an order. A spool lasts me forever as you don’t use a lot each time.

I haven't had any issues with rigmaster fluro in 20lb. However I don't tie this in paternosters, just FG and terminal knots.

You have to check you knots regularly with thicker fluoro (I use vanish) as the knots loosen easily

Re: Fluorocarbon leader
Do you check your knots for strengths before use?
Do you lubricate the knot with saliva before tightening?
What size/type of fish were you losing?
Personally, i wouldn't be using the surgeon's knot for paternosters because the hook dropper/leader tends to lie alongside the main leader attached to your sinker. A twisted dropper loop is the prefer way as it allows the hook dropper/leader to "stick out" away from the main leader, avoiding tangles etc.
