G'day fellas!

Post by Lace »

Hi guys, how's it going?
My name is Matt, one of my mates recommended joining this forum before getting out on the water for a few safety tips and such, I'm thinking I might kit up an old kayak I've got sitting around at my old mans house just to get out in the calm water and flick some plastics at flatties and then look at upgrading down the track and get something a little more sturdier (the one I've got is a bit over 2 meters and my mate said it'd be no good in the chop)
I've been a keen fisho since I was a little tacker and hope I can add to the fishing reports section often*.
Usual fishing spots for myself are Altona through to geelong as it's easy travel, but definitely looking to get out to western port eventually for a gummy and a couple of big reds when they're running there!

Cheers guys, looking forward to hitting the water!

*as often as the mrs allows before she kicks me out...

-Matt

Welcome, lots of folks fish those areas.

This a good place to get trips on an eventual upgrade. Your mate is right little yaks like that can be dangerous in anything but perfect conditions. Length does matter

Welcome Matt,

I'm new on the forums as well, and learned a few things from the safety section. I cant imagine much would turn you off yak fishing more than coming unstuck and in trouble. Take it easy and inside your limits.

Hey Nathan, yeah wouldn't be too much fun falling off (unless I'm diving haha) just have to practice getting in and out a few times and I should be sweet
