Stinker Down off Daveys Bay

Post by stooders »

Water Police and volunteers have been searching since 6:00am for a tinny missing off Daveys Bay. The boat was located at 4:00pm off Mornington, together with a life jacket, some fishing tackle and a few other bits and pieces. One occupant, a 33 year old Frankston man, is still missing. In time we will learn what went wrong.

You may recall two fishermen died off Frankston about this time last year. Their demise resulted from vessel modifications that were not properly carried out.

A lot of VYak members like to tinker with their craft (Yaks and stinkers) and there's nothing wrong with that if you know what you are doing. Even if you are pretty good on the tools, why not get someone else to inspect your work, just in case there is some little thing you have missed.

Take care out there guys, whether you are in a stinker or yak. This is another sad but too frequent reminder that the Bay is a dangerous place. Our thoughts go out to the family and friends of the missing man. Stooders

Not good news at all.
Yet another reminder for us all.
Feel very sorry for the family.

Agree mate, you have to feel for the family involved, but seriously ????? going out in a tinny or any boat for that matter when the forecast was predicting gale force winds !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. These type of events do nothing but make all our lives harder all round, there is no winner.
