gday folks. had a nice yak dive at torquay today. got my first cray and saw a massive blue devil, as well as a massive stingray. awesome day out but bloody hell am i tired. got some video footage to sort out for a you tube vid later. only thing missing from the day was some company.
would like to catch up with some fellow divers on here for a dive.
cheers

Re: torquay yak dive
Still haven't dived off my yak yet, but I bought an outback for the stability & extra weight carrying capacity coz I thought it would make a good dive platform.
Well done on your first cray.
Torquay is a long way away for me but I must make the effort to join you one day.

Id be keeping the location quiet!!
There's no crays on the surf coast!!
Perfect day for it! The sea Doesn't get like today very often!

Re: torquay yak dive
no need for tanks! just use your inbuilt ones.!
the sea was certainly calm but the vis was dropping to quite crappy. by the time i found some good ground it was down to a few meters.
I keep diving cos nearly every time i go in i see something new or wierd or beautiful.
the kayak is great to dive from when you have plenty of time to spare. but it takes a while to get comfortable with entry and exits and the juggling with gear while on the water. I always have to tell myself to think of the reasons why i should make the effort to get out rather than reasons why not.

Re: torquay yak dive added video.
yeah I will have to spend some time in shallow practicing getting in and out with all the gear on. I have an idea on how too just need to try and maybe refine it
I'm afraid my lungs are not what they used to be after years of abuse so to stay under for any length of time tanks it is, I do love to snorkel as well and am looking forward to blooding my spear gun. Great video mate look forward to posting more here myself. Cheers Merv.

Scuba for me, I ran out of breath just watching the video.
Well past the edge, almost at the point of no return.
