stiff rudder
stiff rudder
Hello everyone , i have a Hobie Outback maybe 2015? The problem i have is the rudder lever is very very stiff! The lines look ok and there doesn't seem to be anything obvious to cause it? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

Re: stiff rudder
Turning or lifting? Sure its the lever and not the rudder hinges themselves being too tight an binding?
Re: stiff rudder
turning, the rudder itself seems to be pretty free, i,m thinking it might be the lever some how

Re: stiff rudder
Have a read of the Hobie manual (link below).
Stiff rudder turning could be
1. friction between the control handle shaft and hull and the spring,
2. friction between the left and right steer control lines or
3. friction between the steer control lines and the control lines tube
Stiff rudder raising & lowering could be the drum bolt tension - figure 14 and last para of text.
