Rapalla x-rap magnum

Post by happyas »

I have just inherited some RAPALLA X-RAPS MAGNUMS in 10 and 20 sizes. I have used some Rapalla lures in the past but not these. They look like tough buggers. I reckon they would work on kingies, tuna and the like and maybe bigger snapper. Has anyone had experience with these lures in these sizes.

Trolling for Tuna and gamefish off NSW. Got a box full of them.
Well past the edge, almost at the point of no return.

I've done well on snapper in the past using the 10, biggest has been 66cm. I've also had some greedy pinkies take it as well as salmon and snook. Basically it's been my go to for the last 2 seasons. It didn't do too much for me this season though, think I got some salmon from it. I was trolling it this morning to Fawkner Beacon on the off chance of coming across something but it got no hits

I've only trolled them sparingly for tuna and kingies.

I find them an incredible drag when paddling, compared to other alternatives that work - squid/cuttlefish strip or even a sub surface Rap like the Rapala long cast etc
Tuna 20.5kg ---KingFish 90cm --- Snapper 84cm --- Gummy 83cm (55cm legal) ---- Whiting 40cm --- Silver Trevelly 41cm --- Flathead 52cm --- Aussie Salmon 38cm --- Squid 34cm hood
