Mounting a down rigger.
I have made use of an old alvey reel and rod and turned it into a down rigger with 80lb coloured braid. Now using a paddle yak I'm uncertain on the best place to mount it. I thought in front of the paddle stroke how ever I am not convinced that this will be ideal. I'm now thinking just behind the left trolling rod holder. Has anyone tried and tested a similar set up?

Re: Mounting a down rigger.
The Mona Vale guys have been downrigging from Stealths for big kings for years.
They've run a few different setups but you should get lots of info here:

Mine is not as sturdy as the Scotty rigger I might test it out on the nong this week. Just need to see if a wp sinker will do the job or not.
