I've got a sail kit for the outback too. It's been gathering dust over at Muzz's place. I'll go pick it up and we can organise a sail.

Sounds good. Have no idea what I'm doing but how hard can it be?
How do you find the furler?
It will be nice if it works half as good as I hope to tack into a stiff breeze after having been out past the 20 metre mark and actually make progress. Or just troll the lazy way sometimes

Live long, fish hard and hopefully catch something.

Just make sure you have worked out how to right it if you capsize. I think you have to take the sail off before turning it over. I haven't tried it yet, might wait until warm weather so I wont be as fussed about tipping
True. I'm hoping with ama's as well to not do that but I would expect that if you don't have the sail cleated it shouldn't hold a heap of water even if I do turtle it. It seems the same with capsizing it as well - easier to do if you tie the sail off rather then hold it and let go or feather it out if things got hairy.

I can't sail either mate, only took it out once and the furler was hard to use. The bungee doesn't get enough tension and the rope slipped on the pulley. It was probably me using wrong though.
Would make a good winter project, i've made fittings for the Revo (V-sail setup) a couple of years ago but that got lost in time due to changes in life etc... Back to it i think
And thanks for the "flashback" on the thought

Seems the sail is to wind what wind is to fishing...
Go fishing and it blows a gale... take the sail and suddenly there is no wind and great fishing. Mind you I am not complaining - if I had known it would make any difference to the amount of wind I would have bought it before buying the Outback!
All jokes aside, Sunday looks ok for both a fish in the morning and a sail in the arvo.

Honestly though its alot of fun and nice trolling speed for most lures. A light breeze is good for 3-4km/h. Winds 10km plus will give you a solid 5+ shove, give it a few peddle strokes and you will clip along at 6km no problem. Love it.
I think the hull speed limit is about 8.5km/h as you can't seem to get past that no matter how well you trim and how fast you peddle.
Ahhhhhhhhh I think an AI next. Its just plain fun!
