Stealth Rudder Upgrade

Post by cheaterparts »

Eoin dropped off my new large rudder for the profisha 525 yesterday morning so I fitted it up and I thought I would put up a bit of a review after getting to use it today

Image

Image

first it is a little deeper maybe 20 mm it has more surface area both forward and the rear and surprising it is also about half the weight of the std Stealth Item

so the first thing you notice it is really well balanced and the pedals were a lot lighter than I thought it would be ( I have paddled with another large rudder on a stealth and it was heavy to use )
a lot less rudder input is needed but it does turn better when pushed and coming in with a 45 deg head wind there is very little rudder input needed still
my guess it will be a weapon on runners down wind and in surf

for the Stealth guys it is a worth while mod - I'm really happy with its performance Eoin has done a very nice job of these

Thanks for the write up Cheater, glad you are happy with it - we’ve had good feedback on them from Noosa too.
They will be the standard rudders for our new Xplora skis, but were designed to be retro-fittable to the Stealth skis too so two birds with one stone  I’m just happy you are putting the old Stealth one in your wooden kayak, I’ll have to find a few more ways to add weight to it before the Gippsland Race

Cheater we have just finished designing a dual drink holder for wooden kayaks,
Can I interest you in one?

Dual drink holder needs to be supplied with CA glue so it can't slide or be removed!

I know right, I reckon they'd squeeze out an extra km/h or two if they were called something sick like "Sherpanator" or "Banjo Slayerz" instead
