No PFD's, Type 1, Type 2 or Type 3 required under Victorian regulations.
No Paddle leash attached to the paddle.
Adding water for ballast is a big; NO.
Thanks Eddie.

I can add a few, but will just add one.

They were apparently given a booklet (possibly about regulations and safety) but failed to read it.

I think its great you took the chance of getting punched in the nose to help protect your sport
most ppl without the IQ to under stand simple safety will just resort to anger if challenged :!:
I've had guys get angry in the past and so I'd actually given up volunteering advice, but this guy engaged me first.

Give the guys at least a little bit of credit. At least they were practicing their reentry skills
How many of you guys are waiting for the water to warm up a bit :? :?

This isnt just a Kayak problem a few years ago (more then i like to admit) i was a member of the coast guard in frankson and we got a call out to a small vessel that had been swamped and was in trouble in bad weather i wouldnt go out in... 2 of us jumped in to SG1 a 21 Foot boat able to carry 6 ppl so we had 4 spots spare on arrival we found a 13 foot boat with 6 ppl on it 1 child 5 adults and noone had a pdf on
we took all the persons on board and had to leave the boat to the dismay of the owner we grounded a few times trying to get back into the creek it was very sketchy on dropping them off at the boat ramp the owner informed us he wasnt happy and would be consulting his lawyer
stupid ppl arnt just buying kayaks (oh wait i did) :?

Well done Rhino for filming, posting and advising these guys. Surely everyone owes it to themselves, their loved ones and the people who will have to rescue/recover them to take all the safety precautions necessary. When you buy a new car the salesman does not tell you to belt up and make sure not to speed home (but the car does come with all the safety equipment). Its up to you. Somehow these people need educating.

Yeah its not just a kayak issue and kudos Rhino on your efforts.

Lack of a PFD is inexcusable and fkn moronic. Darwin award moronic.

Water safety. Some people just dont get it.

 Unbelievable!

Thanks for stepping up and letting them know the rules and some tips on safety Daz, it takes guts to do that.
Thank F^*K they were not 2 K's offshore loaded up with gear at sunset, their trip would have surely ended very differently.

I think that kayak loaded with water :wtf: or not was probably not rated with a high enough capacity for that bloke anyway.
Common sense does not always previal and lets hope their little trip was an eye opener for these blokes.

I reckon you should have put the benny hill music to that video Daz ! very funny - but concerning...

Everyone when they start out yakking has to learn the ropes... we cant expect everyone to just get it first time... but to not even consider your own personal safety is very concerning - no PFDs, exceeding the capacity of their yaks, no leashes, no experienced mate to oversee them, add that to their obvious lack of fitness = recipe for disaster.

I would of rang the water police mate,so they could get picked up and fined.
The big bloke probably thought his man boobs (Moobs) accounted for his PFD.
