Swordfish in Pambula River

Post by Steve_R »

Don't ask whether I believe this but I have seen Bonito in the river and read that a Marlin died in the river last year.

I think it may have something to do with the shape of the bay there. You have fairly deep water from Haycock point right along to the mouth of the Pambula River. The entrance itself is stuck right in the southwest corner of the bay and the land contours might tend to act as a funnel to guide these different species into the entrance. That's what makes it such an interesting place to fish. You never know what you will see.
There's only a fine distinction between fly fishing and standing on the bank looking like an idiot.

You'd think the deep water species would be deterred by the bar.
