I made a motorized cart for my Hobie Outback to help turn my post fishing uphill slog into more of a leisurely stroll. It will be an assist on the short steeper section and self powered for the remaining slightly uphill walk. It's using the Hobie cart axel/wheels and x2 12V motor & gearboxes from Power Wheels (Jeep or similar sit-in 12V cars for kids). It's controlled by a wired electronic speed controller (PWM). The cart won't stay on the Kayak while fishing, it will be locked to a tree in the dunes.

Park test complete. This was half speed and slightly uphill. Real life test still to come.

Next step is to go wireless like the steering controls on an electric outboard?
With all the work involved, locking it to a tree has me greatly concerned.

Ideally I wanted the speed to be controlled by a handheld RC controller but this involved a bit of kit that I didn't have and I was trying to do it on the cheap. The motors/gearboxes were hard rubbish finds

The beach is pretty quiet where I'll be leaving it locked up and it will be out of sight, so fingers crossed it won't be knocked off!

Wow I want one hard rubbish you say hmmm I better move to your area we don't have hard rubbish anymore. It's so hard to survive without it too lol

Have you done a real life test yet ?
How did you tighten & secure the straps that hold the front wheel to the yak ?

I have just invested in a electric motorised jockey wheel to help me move and park my kayak trailer
My trailer is a modified extended drawbar box trailer with canopy cover that carries two Hobie outbacks plus fishing & camping gear.
It is getting too heavy to push in to tight spaces for an old bloke like me).
If the motorised jockey wheel works for the trailer my next step may be to adapt a jockey wheel clamp to the bow of each outback so that I can turn my pre and post slog/drag of the kayaks to/from the camp site or car park to the launch spot / ramp into a leisurely stroll.
