Greenland Paddles

just wondering if anyone has used a Greenland paddle - I had toyed with the idea of building one for a while and my thoughts were to maybe make one as a storm G/Paddle which would only be about 1.6 meters long - something that size would be easy to store as a spare paddle
On top of that after doing some research most say that they are fairly easy on the body ( shoulders ) and being narrow are less effected by wind
Now apart from fishing and the odd fitness padding I'm a bit keen on working on my eskimo rolls ( sea kayak ) and every youtube clip where G/Paddles are used they point out the advantages of these long skinny sticks
anyway I downloaded some basic plans Making a West Greenland Paddle by Chuck Holst

both look easy enough to carve and a chunk of 4 x 2 pine would be cheap enough to stuff up to test
most use western red cedar - I wonder how Paulownia would work , it would make a light paddle
