Being a cheapy rather than buy what i can make  i decided to have a go at making a downrigger weight, it's not finished but you get the idea ;)

The mould made from plaster, i used a soup/veggie ladle to form the basic shape then carved the tail

The 2 halves weighing 1.35kg

How it will look once joined, although im yet to add to hookup loops but you get where it's headed ;)

Fish? i actually bought it with the intention to use it in the lakes at camperdown, but as with everything there are uses for it in the bays and oceans so it might get a workout this coming offshore season, while fishing minerva reef earlier this year there was a sounder full of what i think were kings but i couldn't tempt them up and didn't think i had anything suited to get down to them however if i had thought about it further i would have used an sp maybe as a jigging lure, but that would have been a very useful time for a downrigger.
