Re: Cheaters Skiff

Come on now Cheater. It's been a while now since you have tantalized us with some pics and info. Has it got wet yet? Ah,................... does it float? :yahoo: Is it a slayer? Will it last longer than Timmy Turtles 'Pipe Dreams II'? Maybe a 25Hp Yammy to propel it to mac 3? Yep, we're ...

Re: PLB/EPIRB Placement

Thanks for the input guys. If you post something here on VYAK, you are assured to get the best info from the most experienced yakkers around. That PLB thing of keeping it upright and above the water is solved by having a good PFD that you can attach the PLB to the shoulder strap above the...

OOooops, where's the boat?

It's about fishing, but not fully yak related.
Very relevant to water craft safety. A bit sketchy.......
Just 1:10:39 of your time if you want a distraction.

PLB/EPIRB Placement

I just thought I would share with the VYAK crew a couple of incidents that have caught my attention. Both not really yakky, but extremely related to kayak fishing in all waters. 1. Got this off Victorian Kayak Fishing facebook page. I don't have facebook but you can still view it as it is open to al...

Re: Dirt Fishing/ gold Detecting

Now that is a good looking set up.
And, a few more of those things in the palm of your hand, might go some way to pay for the Hilux mods? :yahoo:

Re: Camping Wood Stove

These burners are simple to set up and use. They confine the heat/flames to a small area and are thus very efficient in cooking stuff. They don't need much fuel and if you use the tin can/billy type with less holes, they do not suffer from the wind. They aren't really the best for post dinner heating...

Re: Camping Wood Stove

Here's a copy of something I found on the interweb. Could be handy if you set up in an area which requires a fire pit/brazier. I've had a similar version of this for many years. It is very efficient in getting the heat up to a billy or a frypan. This one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bmAP4kv5O8c...

Re: Keeping the sport alive.

Great work Larry Although not really VYAK related, maybe a quick mention on here could lead to some 'extra helpers' ? Are you able to yak on FTG quarry and if so is there any parking for yak trailers for those that are local? Get them interested young and they will be hooked for life. :-)

Re: There’s a Hatch on

I've learnt from experience that my bc casting ability is extremely poor in low light/dusk conditions!
And that's just casting forwards. I just can't get the distances right.
Having something like those beauties wizzing around is beyond my pay grade that's for sure.

Yum. They look good enough to munch on.
Hopefully something more desirable than me gets a liking to them. :yahoo:
