I ran the transducer in the oasis the same way Frank though I cut the bottom out of the plastic container before it was marine gooped in, it worked great just remember to top up the water when needed.

Go a deep cycle battery they handle a discharge better than a standard SLA battery. Deep-cycle ones are generally a lot more expensive though.
