mate even if you drag your boat over sand, if you are tired after a long day and you miss a rock poking out of the sand, suddenly there is now a big gouge in your hull
do not drag your boat over anything (except water) - always have wheels

Re: Outback with sail
Heard favoriable reviews on the STAR sail on the hobie forums - the sail being big is countered by the mast being more flexible so it spills wind more easily. But based on what I know going upwind for kayaks the limitation is the need for a good daggerboard rather then the sail itself. This is prese...

Re: Outback with sail

There are even some accounts of the arm breaking, but that is much more rarer (I only heard of this happening to 1 guy on the hobie sailing forums). Ho...

Re: Outback with sail
I honestly havent fished much when I am sailing - but the few times I sailed with the stays and fished you can basically only fish the back half of the boat (imagine an invisible horizontal line down to where the mast is - you cannot fish beyond that line.) I have modified and sailed my revo 13. The hobie outriggers are fine and not toys - i sailed in 15 knot winds with gusts to 20 and they did the job fine - which was to "bounce" me off the water when wind gusts hit and give me a bit of time to let out more of the main sheet to stop me from ...

Re: cheater mk 2.4 strip build
Woah looks great - I am not sure I ever want to stain that with squid ink or fish blood. It seems too high class for that ! Question to any wood workers out there - how is wood expansion due to moisture content handled in a vessel like this ? is it because its sealed in fibreglass so the wood moistu...

Re: Purchasing first kayak after advice
If you get southerly to easterly wind, you can go to fisherman's beach and just do your safety remount practice there. People swim there and in that wind direction its protected (as you as you dont go out too far).

I have read that it is caught in both ppb and wpb (saw a spearo on FB shot a 4kg one !), but not many people seem to target it - not sure why ? Did a few google searches but doesnt seem much on it. Anyo...
