First off you are going to want a good kayak. One that is designed for just fishing. Also proactive casting from your kayak a lot. It's a bit different but you'll get used to it. You should read this and this and it'll help you out a lot.

Just make sure to store it flat and no pressure points on anything or risk it folding up or dents. But if you can you should probably sell it for now.
