Re: Rapalla x-rap magnum
I've done well on snapper in the past using the 10, biggest has been 66cm. I've also had some greedy pinkies take it as well as salmon and snook. Basically it's been my go to for the last 2 seasons. It didn't do too much for me this season though, think I got some salmon from it. I was trolling it t...

Re: G'day All,
Will do. How long have you had the oasis for as I think I may have seen you during winter?

Re: G'day All,
Welcome to the forum Campbell. There's lots of good info to learn from on here so take time to dig through the old posts. I'm based in Cheltenham so often launch from mentone and paddle around to Black Rock so I'll probably see you guys on the water this season. Hopefully this dirty water clears up ...

Re: How are you supposed to move a 5m + Ski?
I was thinking of using the gutterless roof rack clamps as this will allow for the bar spacing to be increased. If spacings dont work well then I might look at the wash rider option. I'd probably go down the DIY route though and incorporate the lock racks. I don't think I could go back to tie downs ...

Re: How are you supposed to move a 5m + Ski?
I'm digging this one back up as I'm needing to buy a second car for work which will also double up as transport for the stealth. I don't need anything too big as we have the Everest so was thinking of a focus or similar. Overhangs should be OK with the 475 so only looking at a hatch and not a wagon....

Re: New to kayaks what winter clothing do you recommend
I use to wear something similar when I lived in the UK for mountain biking and they worked well. I've just changed my kayak footwear to a pair of 5mm Probe Idry dive boots. I was trying to make a pair of 3mm dive shoes with sharkskin socks work for winter but found them to be too cold. Now I can get...

Re: Sheltered spots for Saturday yakking
I probably wouldn't bother with ppb this weekend as you won't find much shelter especially along the east side. Beaumaris Bay can offer some shelter on a W/NW and NW wind but its not much of an area of shelter. Plus its very quiet around there at the minute and when you factor in the 40% rule for gu...
Re: Hi all
Welcome Martin! Yeah it's definitely a lot quieter here over winter but it picks up a bit when the reds start to come into the bay. As Shane said there is a lot of good information on here to get lost in so spend a bit of time going through the old posts when the weather is no good. I think I learnt...

Re: Stealth Profisha 475
Finally got the chance to take out the stealth this morning for the first time and what a difference it is from my previous plastic kayak. I haven't been out for a paddle for 3 months due to hectic home life and ongoing shoulder injury so fitness is none existent but it was more about getting out an...

Re: Stealth Profisha 475
I was lifting my last kayak of 38kg for the last 2.5yrs using this method and it took a while to figure out what was the best way to lift it and without scratching the side of the car. The biggest issue I had with it was with the wheel in the keel so I always had to lift the stern onto the car first...
