Nearly Run Over by a Motor Cruiser in PPB
G’Day All, I went out today off Edithvale for a fish for the first time in 2 months. My partner and I were happily fishing about 1-1.5km offshore (directly opposite the Life Saving Club) when a huge motor cruiser (40-50’) came directly at us at, what I would estimate at about 25 knots. We waved padd...

Re: Coronet Bay
Fished Coronet Bay on Saturday and Monday. A little bit of wind about, but a great place to launch and retrieve the kayaks. We didn’t go too far out (as far as the channel marker) and picked up a couple of whiting and fought the battle with hungry leather jackets! Overall the leather jackets won the...

Coronet Bay
G’Day All, I’m going to take Cheater’s advice and fish Coronet Bay this long weekend. Could anyone provide me an insight on launching and retrieving there at low tide? I don’t have a depth sounder, but do have an anchor to set on a spot if required. What’s the best for fishing the area? Drifting or ...

Re: Any suggestions for Fishing from Cowes at Phillip Island
Thanks for the advice. I think we’ll have a quick look a Cheatas suggestions on the way to Cowes and if we have time, we might launch the kayaks and then do a recce around Cowes to see if we’ll fish there or not. I don’t want to get in any situations that we’re not comfortable with.

Re: Any suggestions for Fishing from Cowes at Phillip Island
Cheater,
thanks for the tips on the other places to try. We’ll have to give them a go some other time. What are the best rigs, for off Cowes? If current and tides are pretty fast, do we need a lot of lead on the bottom?

Any suggestions for Fishing from Cowes at Phillip Island?
G’day, I’m pretty new to kayaking and have been out a couple of times in Port Phillip Bay for a paddle and fish. My partner and I have a Seabird Expedition and Discovery kayak, with one rod holder each. It’s certainly a challenge when we get a fish, but we manage to get them in. We’re heading to Cow...
