Re: Keeping a holed yak afloat

Here's my 2 cents on this (not fishing at the moment so might as well do something useful) and it's worth considering some points. As far as I know - buoyancy is all about displacement. The thing noodles or goon bags inside the hull will achieve is pushing keeping some water out of it ie/displacing ...

Re: Hobo BA

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the design looks a little outdated  ... Not sure how you would go pedalling a mirage drive with your knees though.

Re: Kingfisher hatch not sealing

Has anyone with a wavedance kingfisher had problems with the hatches letting in water on choppy water? If so, how did you fix it? Cheers I had the exact same problem on my Perception Swing rear hatch. Swings have a large pop on hatch (not rubber like yours) with a plastic ring collar which is mount...

Re: Is the Advice we are giving safe ?

I think the advice is safe if it is considered good practice/best practice and has been gleaned from experience (after all training is merely a formalised way to help transfer knowledge from old hands to newbies). My concern with this is we would have to ensure absolute disconnection from liability ...

Re: The Maverick Flying Car

I always thought one of these would be cool. There's a few of them around too.

Metallurgy 101

Hi all, I'm doing some mods to the Swing, one of which is a permanent mount for my bargain triple swivel mount rod holder. I've got some good ideas on how to make a nice solid mount without drilling any new holes - one of which involves the use of Aluminum bar/strap about 2 or 3mm thick and about 50...

Good work. You know you can get a rubber boot to protect those toggle switches from jaycar ? Might be worth considering. I love the j-box idea. It provides an external point for all electricals plus a good spot to mount switches.

Re: Kayak plastic deck saddles and handles

I store it on hooks on the garage wall, so the handles are need there as well. Longer terming I'm planning either a rack and roll, or a thule 887 or 987. I think the one end at a time with a rack and roll is probably the simplest and most practical. I went to the trouble of building a slide out bar ...

Re: Kayak plastic deck saddles and handles

Thanks a heap - and nice job. That's exactly what I envisaged. I'm trying to decide whether to mount them parallel in the seat well or across the yak like you have it. I absolutely agree for cart mounting that would be great (and I am using my cart more these days thanks to my dicky back). That said...

Re: Kayak plastic deck saddles and handles

Thanks Guys. I've ordered 2 from the USA (thanks Mingle) for $20 delivered. Has anyone mounted these? The ones on BLA have 2 rivets per mount, but I'm not sure that would be strong enough. I'm thinking SS bolts and nuts with washers. I was also considering a chopping board block at the back to sprea...
