Do you have good paddle technique?
I'm always looking at how to improve safety and came across this vid on good paddle technique.
It would be fair to say I learnt a lot from it as I have been using my arms too much which could be a fatigue (safety) problem if the Hobie MirageDrive failed.

Re: Scuba diver dies after being struck by speedboat in PPB
This is so sad an accident. I think it was these two I saw on Good Friday when fishing off Canadian Bay Road. They definetly had flags and were tethered to the buoys with orange rope but to be honest the flags were so low to the sea it is difficult to see. Yesterday morning, before the tragedy, I wa...

Safety vid - US Coast Guard
Relied on WillyWeather's predicted wind strength yesterday and decided not to go out this morning. Instead was on youtube and came across a safety video made by the US Coast Guard. Most of the decisions the kayakers made seem too silly but I guess we can all make poor decisions from time to time. ht...

Re: What if you fish WPB and fall out?
I can say I always put safety first, always have a rope about 10m out the back of the yak (floating orange nylon about 50mm dia). This test suggests I need alot more length. But the vid is so sobering and a reason I haven't ventured to WP yet sticking to PPB and offshore. Thank you for the post. I a...

The podcast is up: http://www.3aw.com.au/news/3aw-mornings-neil-mitchell-podcasts-20141214-126t1z.html Worth listening to as these guys genuinely thought conditions were good to go. If you take them on their word things can change in a matter of minutes. Another reminder to double check weather etc.

Re: Eastlink tolls
Hi. I have a PA14 that covers the etag and have never found it stopping the etag working. In fact hadn't crossed my mind. Not sure if the tulla uses different technology from Eastlink as I haven't been on Eastlink but heaps of times on the Tulla. I don't know but I have a relatively new etag (only 6...
