Hey mate, I didn't see but if you have an older yak (pre 08) they never had a rear hatch and the rudder cable tubes, used to sag down and act like a syphon if the cables were submerged, if you have a newer model, make sure the rear cable mount is fitted correctly and if necessary bring them through and up, do it makes it harder for the water to get in.
Cheers Bill

Re: hobie adventure leak warranty claim review
So i went into the shop today, and they told me that the warranty claim has been accepted. They said that i have a choice to either get a replacement hull or get an adventure island. So i asked what was the price to upgrade? First they quoted me the difference between the retail price of an adventure and an adventure island.. which i said okay since it was only $ 1960.
Then they rang me and said that because i got a big discount for my adventure they have to charge me more expensive!!!!??? So i asked them if that means they are trying to cut my throat and take back the discount that was given to me?!! I am actually pissed because of their stupidity and dishonesty. They said that they will get back to me tomorrow.. i hope they think about it a bit more...
Will keep you all updated..
Cheers

Re: hobie adventure leak warranty claim review
Jim, i will name the dealer when all is resolved, because i want to give the dealer a fair chanceto redeem themselves
Back to my frustration with their intention to jack the price,
I got a feeling they want to quote me more to make some money out of me.. both the hobie adventure replacement hull or a brand new adventure island is coming from hobie anyway so its ridiculous that they will make any loss from making me pay the retail price difference ....

I dont think you will be happy if you were sold a faulty kayak, had to wait 3 weeks for a reply, and get your discounts taken away by them trying to cut your throat.. as i said, maybe they arent thinking properly.. ill give them some time..Rhino wrote:Geez you're a hard man to please.

Re: hobie adventure leak warranty claim review
Don't upgrade to the Island then.
Just accept the replacement offered of exactly what you bought in the first place, and that which you got the big discount on.
Or if you want the Island and you think you can do better than that which has been offered you, sell the brand new unused Adventure privately and pay the difference.
