new punter with a paddle

Post by cheaterparts »

hi there I'm new to the site and although I dont use a kayak at this stage my wife and myself fish from a canoe.
mainly W/P and launch from Warnett or Blind Bight and the last couple of times from corinet bay near reef island

Image
pic is from 16/3/10 around reef island ( 1 gummy 4 whiting 10 leatherys )

I'm still looking into a kayak till them the canoe is quite a good fishing platform

Welcome aboard mate,

Look forward to seeing some reports, and having a fish with you.

G'day,

As said earlier no bad effort and "yak" is broadly anything you paddle or peddle (no swan boats though).

My craft is a hybrid canoe/kayak and a sit in, I'm looking at a sit on just for practical reasons. I looked at Cannons Creek the other day looks like a great spot, probably see you there some time before winter sets in properly.

I think Cannons Creek is better when the water in the inlet is cooler

have you looked at blind bight ,although you cant get out at dead low tide you dont need a lot of water to get out with a yak.
it only a short paddle around the mangroves to the right and you are at the top end of Gental Annie channel WPB.
we've been out and fishing 1 1/2 hours before the first stink boats come past

we picked up whiting, trevaly, mullet and snook from here

I read though DIY section I see you building a stich and glue sot , I had thought about doing some like this myself
I'm not sure about working with wood - its a shame you cant weld the stuff it would make it easier

after cleaning and skining
I just fillet them - egg + bread crumbs - shallow fry
they are a sweet firm fish and fitteted only leaves a few short rib bones

If you can weld, you can epoxy two bits of wood together. If you can't I've got a project which may need some welding and I'll epoxy the wood together...

Kamikazee has suggested I run tutorials and if there's any more interest I might well do that
