Getting the hang of the smoker

Caught anything lately? Post up how you cooked it here and if it was a success. Doesn't only have to be fish....

Getting the hang of the smoker

Post by wokka1 »

Fired it up again tonight, small rainbow trout spent an hour marinading in a brown sugar, salt and apple cider vinegar mix then 15 minutes in the smoker over iron bark sawdust. Delectable. Love the way the flesh just pulls away from the bones.

My Grandpa got right into the smoker, smoked most of the usual fish that you catch. By far the best (by family consensus) was smoked eel. :wtf:

Very nice Wokka, as much as I love catching trout just never been interested in eating the buggers, although a smoker sounds tempting

Trout cutlets tonight. Used the apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, salt mix again. marinaded too long (2 + hrs) slight sweet vinegar taste was the end result which the girly loved but i found a bit strong. Still a good result and the learning continues. Check out the colour of the flesh ! Beautiful.
