Been there, done that only we were in a tinny just off Peterborough. The sea was getting a bit rough and we saw the fog coming, but by the time we packed up and pulled anchor, we were engulfed with thick fog.......scarey sh!t, especially when the seas chopping up with the occasional big swell and your in a 12ft tinny. :(
Cheers Gary...

There is a lot of broken ground and reef immediately outside the marine park. Large variety of species on offer including the odd Kingy in season and big things that take a big bait and do a runner.

Don’t feel bad that you lost your bearings, spatial disorientation is a terrible phenomenon, very common and easy to fall into. It is a known cause of many aviation accidents, the instruments seem to be lying to you just like your compass did, I lost a friend in 2004 in a helicopter accident, same cause.

As for your anchor, many of us have left one or two in that area  . It is better to anchor off the reef and cast back towards it. Good luck on your next trip.

Good post Wokka, glad it turned out ok.

I once saw a thick fog roll in during the middle of a warm day in Cottesloe in WA - V freaky phenomenon!

Cheers
