Well finally after ages i decided to start finishing the work on the outriggers.
I've used an old edge of an aluminium security door as the bar for the support. Given it a bit of a bend and secured it to the pontoons with threaded inserts just to get the fit right. It's not going to be the final setup but it's giving me an idea of what i now need to do to make it work.
It is attached to the newer rear box I've made up from a chook crate with alloy angle and bolts. If i go this way all i need to do is make attachments to tie the bar down to the yak, possibly a couple of stainless eyes on the deck and the bar to secure with stays. The small bit of alloy is attached from the rear most bolt and "may" go back to the hull to stop any bouncing of the pontoon.
I can also install the bar just in front of the cockpit attaching it to the sail support mount ive made also. Another week or so and it will be test time

They are from free plans at JEM watercraft.
Although ive scaled them down by 2/3 and instead of a flat bottom i made a tapered bottom , although not really needed.

Looks good Pete, I reckon a splash of blue paint and it'll look a treat.

Was thinking that about the blue.
I was going to get some alloy tube this weekend for the support poles instead of the square one but had to do the brakes on one of my cars.

Nah thats not rude. I had to re bend one to take angle out and it was moving two pieces of 50mm square tube apart that is concreted into the ground one end and welded together at the other end for gates.cruiser wrote:Looking really good Pete if its not too rude can I suggest you strengthen the bends on the square aluminium
