Re: Outriggers for an outback
For your info....
Purchased 2 rod holders, 1 universal mount and 1 hobie mast hole ball mount direct from http://www.ram-mount.com/Home/tabid/37/Default.aspx.
Order was placed online 14/1 (last Thur) and arrived today (they tried to deliver yesdy but I wasn't home)
Total was roughly $215 Aus including the Fedex priority post with tracking. Johhny Appleseed (There's one in Stkilda road) came close to this price but they don't have a lot of floor stock and would have had to order in anyway. McClean was the other one I costed.
Buy Aus and all that aside, this was the best deal for me and the range available on the site is comprehensive.
Regards
Wokka

How about Ronston floats, http://www.extremespearfishing.com.au/m ... =show&id=6
On this site they are $71 each but I am sure you could find them cheaper. I do know a guy who buys them bulk for making dive flags, I could enquirer about how much a pair may cost if you wish?

Re: Outriggers for an outback
Found the ebay seller of the lobster pot floats and sent a msg. I was after 4 floats and he was quoted more than $300US to post them ...
what a bummer considering they're selling them at 10 bucks ea !
Peterj - how are you going on sourcing them here..any luck ?
I do think the whole ram set up is the way to go esp that you can set up with a single arm. as for the floats I suppose there is always the surfboard foam, the electric carving knife and then fibreglass the whole lot - its just the fibreglassing bit I realy don't like..

Paddlepop $300??? Was he going to swim them over??
Found some Orange Buoys
http://www.chsmith.com.au/Products/Buoys-Mooring.html
FLH300 RF111 483mm 184mm 680g 9kg EACH $56.50 Add to Cart
My thoughts are if it gets all too pricey, just buy them off the self
I'm going to have a bit of a play with the Jumbo pool noodle and PVC pine

This is an idea using just standard boat fenders that you should be able to pick up for around $30 and is what Ill be doing if needed.

Re: Outriggers for an outback
I have not for the life of me been able to find the place again that i saw them.
They had bulk boxes of them for sale too
Mordy those ones from CH are the ones i been thinking of, good find
It you put them on end they are the same height as an 11ltr garden sprayer and a bit thinner.
Mind you, I've looked longingly at the sprayer for quite a while now
