Re: Outriggers for an outback
Feckin love it .....I'm off to buy a couple of RAM mounts !!! plenty of pool noodles available at Go-Lo for nics.
Really good clean solution which means with a universal or even a 90 deg hinge you could really stash the amas away agaisnt the stern and side and lock it out in posi once fishing......I love it

Re: Outriggers for an outback
Just priced some 119 RAM 1.5" balled mounts $99 here $65 US
Starts to add up for an out rigger
http://macleanoutdoors.net.au/index.php ... a-kit.html $283.00
Scott Lovig is about the same . Scotty also makes out riggers.
Scored a 100mm Dia Pool noodle ( hard core!) from Kmart yesterday, dragged it into the Man cave.
Might have a fiddle with some PVC pipe
see what I can come up with.
Must see if any one on the forum has some Hobie sidekick amas

Well those bullet floats are a hard thing to come by in Aus however.
I have been doing some investigation and have found a suplier here in aus for them.
Ill make a few calls and send some emails later on and see if i can nail down a price.
Mordy i would look at the quick release rod mount from cabelas, 22 dollars and 40 postage 66 and better than rams i reckon, they pin the ends to stop them opening, ill try find the pics of it.

Bigcatch (Doug) made his own out of some boat fenders for his revo, well worth a look, sure he wouldn't mind a PM

Re: Outriggers for an outback
I tried to find those floats but no luck
I even started to look for 2Lt coke bottles to foam fill
the large pool noodle could be a go. The tricky part will be mounting them to the yak, thinking of using the Hobie rod holder tubes
and Straping them down, maybe through the scupper holes
Or I could just visit Scott Lovig again
Two considerations are they don't interfere with paddling or The sacred milk crate

Hobie outrigger kits are only about $155 in the US, don't know what the postage would be.
Cheers Gary...
