Wondering if there's any interest in a few of us getting together in the west for a re-entry practice session?

I've been meaning to do one myself and had been thinking of the area off to the right of the Werribee South boat ramp. On days when it's not weedy it looks (at least to the naked eye) as being suitable; deep enough, calm, little to no boat traffic, and close to the shore.

Importantly (at least for my intended usage had I gone by myself) the dredging done last year has left it with a pretty decent slope so I only need to go a few meters from the beach to be in 2m water meaning if I can't re-enter I can easily get back onto solid ground.

If not there, then what other local areas would folks suggest? Perhaps a fresh water site?

Hamish and I did a half re entry when we were out a couple of weeks ago (jumped off yaks then climbed back on, but didnt roll them over). I’d like to do some re entry rolling the yak over though so I’d be keen to join in

X2 confident with a mono hull not with the amas though.

yes I'm in. I want to practice rollover. Lets do on a light southerly day where we get pushed back in.

Yah i might be up for it I've done the jump outs several times but no rollover as i had gear in the yak

AI's can tip, probably better to practice getting it up the right way when it isn't an emergency. You might want a couple of helpers to follow you out into deeper water to help if required. Some of the AI guys did a group session a while ago and posted about it on the Facebook AI Group page.

It would be good for you PA owners to do a rollover as not only are they bulky but it would be a good way of testing how much water the front hatch may let in. Thats the weakness of hobies with repeated roll overs.

Good point. I have upgraded my hatch seal but haven't really tested it thoroughly yet.

Did a few re-entries this morning myself in the surf at Point Roadnight.
Frustrating having to pull out of good waves because people can't swim between the flags.
