Easier than an outback too, in fact it's closer to the weight of a sport than outback. Pity there isn't a PA like grab rail at the back nor are there side handles. But the manual says proper (molded) carriers if you car top right way up. I guess the risk is indents in the hull if you just load onto flat bars but the PA manual probably says the same thing. I haven't seen one in the flesh yet. Are the weight savings from less fittings etc or is the actual plastic lighter too ? ie, has the lighter weight compromised hull rigidity at all ?shane wrote:It would have to be a lot easier to car top than a PA and since it's virtually a mini-PA (at least the rear half) I'd say it would go best right way up.wokka1 wrote:Hey Mav. Are you car topping the Compass and if so which way up ?

There is a Hobie Compass group on Facebook with heaps of owners sharing info etc. It appears the centre hatch area is a thinner plastic & is reliant like most Hobies on having rigid foam inserts in the hull to support the deck. You can also ask Martyn from Berly Pro his thoughts as he has been smashing Kingies off Portland in his blue Compass.

I'd be interested if they had a better colour-range - any idea why just 2 colour choices?
