Question - How to mount my transducer?

Post by agrojim »

Howdy all,

I'm having a little trouble coming up with a way to finish my fish finder install. My OK has a spot in one of the scupper holes to mount the transducer which I thought would make my install easier...
I've mounted my fish finder to a plastic container which holds the battery and all the excess wire.
However I am not sure how I can secure the transducer into the scupper hole? The transducer fits in there quite well and doesn't seem to hang too low so in that regard I think it will work well there. But there is nothing to physically secure it too.
What is the best way to do this?

Cheers and thanks,
Jim

I mounted mine thru the scuppa hole to Jim. I made a stainless steel bracket welded some s/s thred and put a s/s washer larger than the scuppa hole and a wing nut to fasten the tranny .hard to explain .Hope it helps .

Thanks for the reply Steve.
If I had a welder and a clue how to use one I'd probably fashion up something similar. Looks nice and solid.

Maybe I could make something with a washer and some cable ties...?

Jeez I thought having this space for it would make it easier.
Starting to think I'd be better off cutting a hole in my yak for a hatch and siliconing the damn tranny to the inside of the hull would be easier.

Cheers,
Jim

Well the good old cable ties came out and it's all fitted up nice and snug.
I'll see how this goes and as I mentioned earlier, I may silicone the tranny to the inside of the hull once I've put a hatch in.
Thanks for the advice.

Cheers,
Jim

If that doesn't work, screw it to some pvc pipe that is long enough to come through the scupper and stick through enough so you can push and end cap onto it, then put a self taping screw through the end cap to stop it slipping off. No welder needed and nice and light.

Well that's what I would try on short notice ;) whether it work's  Hmmmm stuffed if I know but you can let me know later if you try
