I generally find a dry bag the easiest. Just put your gear inside, roll it up with a bit of air and clip onto a leash, eye or bungee. Aldi have a great set of three bags they sell when they have their fishing gear.4liters wrote:What would be the best approach for storing tools like pliers during a surf launch/landing assuming putting them in the hull isn't feasible?
I'm thinking some sort of sealed tuppaware box with a tether or float.

Don't be to sure of that Shane. A slight change in the direction of the wind and Nunns becomes a full on surf beach with rollers and ocean swell breaking over the reefs out from the lighthouse where we were fishing on the weekend it can be very nasty even on a calm day.shane wrote:
If you launched at Nunns beach (just north of lee breakwall) there shouldn't have been much surf, maybe just a bit of a shore break and wind waves. Shore breaks can be tricky but with a little practice playing in surf you shouldn't have many more problems with them. But storing rods flat on the yak as per the otterboy pic is definately a good idea if you're unsure of getting through surf.

Yeah the wind was from the east and the swell was rolling straight through. The breakers weren't huge but certainly big enough when sitting on the yak.spider25160 wrote:Don't be to sure of that Shane. There must be a bommie or something a bit north of the beach and out from the cliffs because in among all the regular swell there was one spot where the waves reared right up and broke. Looked huge from the seated position, the boats were giving it a very wide berth.

Hey Spider...you wouldn't happen to have had a look at the forecast for Mon arvo and Tues morning ? Onshore wind kicks up a bit Mon 5 pm ish but Tuesday has a lot of light offshore at this stage. Last swell i looked at had it dropping off through that period. What's your opinion ?spider25160 wrote:Yep regularly get a heavy break there

Willy weather agrees with your assesment Monday morning would be the pick but both days look pretty good. Be a good chance to have a crack again out of Wallys or nunns.

Any/all of the above depending on what local fishing reports say at the time.Yako wrote:Where will everyone be launching from?

As Eoin said all could be a possibility depending on where the actions been. However Wally's would be my preference with Nunns as a backup depending on the weather.
