Think you will be searching far and wide to find someone that hates that :yahoo:
Its got me pumped, great job with the editing
I honestly expected at least someone to tell me that it was too dramatic, which I've been accused of before (and probably rightly so to). Using this track from Mad Max Fury Road wasn't something I did lightly. It's a highly strung track, but also pretty inspirational towards the end, which is why I wanted to use it. It took some effort to make it work. Also I broke two of my editing rules when making this clip, although I figured I might get away with it in this case. Those two rules are to never linger on a single scene for any longer than 10 seconds before cutting to another angle or scene (fish jumping in slo-mo toward the end), and always refrain from showing too much 'lift & wind' reeling. I usually try to only ever show the moments that demonstrate the highlights of the fight, but in this case I needed to include a bit more of it to demonstrate what was going on throughout the fight.

Lingering on single framed scenes is a personal gripe I have with fishing videos and I'm not alone in feeling this way (I usually don't watch most fishing videos to the end because of it). Way too many fishing videos are 90% winding the fish in and it usually gets pretty boring, and most of them would be much better if they were shorter. For these reasons my clips usually roll pretty quick, with a lot of (what is known as ) fast cutting. So I broke those rules in this case, but it kind of worked with the narrative. I've only had positive feedback so far, so I guess most viewers agree.

This is more of an adventure video with fishing as the agenda, rather than just a fishing vid. Hence it will engage general viewers with the general level of freedom and escapism, not just fishos. To that end a bit of dramatic license is good. We know fishing involves a lot of humdrum, we don't need to see that.

The only thing I dislike about it, is that it isn't me catching the marlin, otherwise it is a 10.
Well past the edge, almost at the point of no return.
