Malibu X-13 vs RTM K-Largo?

Post by Stuey J »

Hi All,

I'm looking @ getting into yak fishing and the 2 yaks I have been looking at in the $800-$1000 range was the Malibu X-13 and the RTM K-Largo both with rudders....
Any thoughts on which way to go?

Cheers.

Have you sat in either, are there any pros and cons with your first impressions?

New or second hand?

They seem similar, The malibus have handy square central hatches

Well, i thought i was set on the Malibu but when the RTM went on sale and fell into my price range i thought I would ask a few guys that might already own them to see their opinions. Both are brand new and both feel pretty good to sit in.

Value for money and with a massive price reduction on the RTM, it almost sells itself but because i haven't paddled them I can't really comment too much. Most of my fishing will be in PPB and when I get a bit more confidence maybe a little of shore.

I think there are two different lengths available (at different $) in the x caliber. Make sure you are not comparing shorter one against rtm pricewize

Ive had a rtm, was a good yak, i found it stable, could be a bit of a wet ride as the water doesnt drain real well, so i just bought yak pants n that was much better, the hatches could of been a bit bigger but was a good yak otherwise

I just got a X-13 from the BCF on Springvale Rd for $750 a few weeks ago. They had 2 in stock when I got it and the second one was still there a few days ago. Might be worth giving them a call and seeing if they still have it. I sat in it and the X-Caliber and the X-13 had a bit more room. The rear well is also quite small on the X-Caliber compared to the X-13.

Thats a good deal, i thing the X calibre is a replacement for the run out X13 which is getting hard to find
