my little yak

Post by fishin' chick »

So I finally got around to taking a pic of my yak. This was taken at apex park altona a couple of weeks ago.

I put a cooler/esky and small tackle box under the bungee cord in the rear well, trolley fits in there as well. A cooler bag up front for any catch.
Net in one of the rear flush rod holders, rod in the other, and just got another rod so I can troll/ drift with one each side.
Also have the centre mount swivel rod holder.

Found out that the hobie 8inch gear buckets fit my hatches (bit hard to see but there is one right in front of my seat, and a second right up the front), so have ordered one of them. Have also got a running anchor rig, but it wasn't fitted when this photo was taken.

There's maybe a few more small tweaks to do, but I'm pretty happy with how it is now. Would eventually like to put a small sounder on it, but am not rushing to do it, partly because I haven't decided where I want to mount it.

Thanks for looking.

Looks great, a little bit too clean though, need to add some red and black stains.

If you put some pvc extenders in the recessed holders it will help keep your reels away from the water.

If you cut down one of those flexible plastic baskets and jam it in the hatch well you will get a lot of in hull storage (good for keeping spare clothing/jackets dry). You can still use your hobie tackle box, or even put individual ones in the bucket

She's a ripper
Now all it needs is a squirt of squid ink
