Well done Darren.
As I read throgh your account it was obvious that your awareness and clear thinking each step of the way is probably what saved a couple of livee today.

Great effort Rhino! What you did was great. I mean that.

Re: Well Earned Beer
Judging by where all the boats were fishing tonight Rhino almost certainly saved lives today, they would have ended up out at the outer anchorage before any possibility of someone seeing them and most likely would have succumbed to hyperthermia by then - even if they made it that far it would be sheer luck if they were close enough to any boats/ships to be seen. Great job!maverick wrote:2 people more on this earth tonight thanks to you, no doubt about it.

Top job Rhino. Here I was trying to justify my beers by saying I'd mown the lawn.

Re: Well Earned Beer
I appreciate the comments, but I think they would have been ok at the end of the day.
I'd left my phone at home which I don't think I have ever done, but somebody had called the police. I don't know whether it was the family I spoke with, the girlfriend of the brick shithouse, a local resident or somebody else who'd noticed the drama.
The police helicopter came over as I got off the ski and the police boat was on the way, although it was called off. They would have been picked up not too long after we'd done it anyway
I think most of the boats were at Port Melbourne again. There were none at Altona at the time.

Re: Well Earned Beer
Nice work Rhino, quick thinking and a good result. Here's hoping that's the last incident in the bay for silly season.
