My only critisism is that big Nitro sticker design that Innovator Rods ripped off from me. :x

Don't want to hijack this thread ......... but Haynsie, if you did that design from scratch then it comes under Intellectual Property & Copyright meaning you own all rights to it under Australian law.
Cheers Gary...

When Nitro came out with that logo, they mentioned to me that they had someone do it for them. They're not the kind of guys to make stuff up, so if it was copied, it was copied by the artist commissioned to do it. If you believe that it is a direct copy of your work, you should follow it up, yes.

You are the consummate tech head Josh and I wish you well with this.

My only critiscism would be that it is anything but lean.....a log and 2 table tennis bats is lean.

Get it into the American market - you'll smash it!

Best wishes Rosco

Sorry, I shouldn't have hijacked the thread in the first place, but seeing that logo makes my blood boil. It's a long story, but I make a living from graphic design and I've done work for Australian fishing tackle brands like Halco and Adventure Bound amongst others. While I didn't do that exact piece of artwork, I met with them, showed them my work and their "new" logo appeared shortly after after my fish and dagger tshirt design did. Their agency is ultimately responsible but they have a history of ripping off logos. The current Nitro logo is ripped from Nitro boats in the US and their old logo was a direct knock off of the Calcutta fishing tackle logo. Innovators they ain't!!

Apologies again for 'jacking your thread Josh.

Cheers

WMT, by that I am referring mainly to the fact that there are no rod holders or sounder units mounted on the forward deck, which I wouldn't do on any kayak again, and is especially messy business on an AI. AI's are busy to begin with, and once you add a couple of cams etc. they start getting a bit cluttered. By fishing-ready AI standards, it is somewhat lean. But yes, I take your point.

Wasn't aware of that Tim. That does suck. I'm not trying to excuse that because I don't like seeing copy-cats (especially if its a commercial interest) but I have to say, originality is a rare thing in the fishing game. For example, the 'angry dead' fish concept is done over and over in the fishing scene. To be honest, I'm not a huge fan of the Nitro logo because of it (I am sponsored by them, however, so I happily use it on the bow hatch), nor am I a fan of the sneering skeletal fish concept that appears everywhere these days. Even a lot of lures have a brooding scowl about their eyes these days. It makes me laugh.

My first kayak fishing website 'yakabout' was ripped off by a guy in Hawaii once. The name, logo and layout were precariously close. It happens unfortunately and so long as it's not identical, apparently its legal.

Think it's up to a 10% deviation from the original that is considered fair play. I have no idea on the means by which they weigh those percentage points though. Josh - Hope your mods are above the 10 percentile so you can make a quid. I'm sure Scott would oblige you there

The dead snarling fish meme is like using death metal as a soundtrack........the zeitgeist still probably demands it, but you'd think it was a dead horse by now. Freakin exhausting. Got rabid crystal youth written all over it.

I want a rod with a buttercup meadow and sweet herbs and milkmaids plastered on it.
