I was selling my motorbike once and had an enquiry similar to this - he offered to pay $5K more than what I was asking but said that he wanted to use some escrow service.

Apparently it's a scam that happens too often out there. You end up having to pay some fee, then you send your goods out, then the buyer pulls out, then you pay to get your goods out, and you can't get your goods out. End up losing more than just the Yak!

The ONLY way I would enter in a transaction like that would be to have cleared cash in my account before shipping the goods.
