Kayak plastic deck saddles and handles

Post by chillihilli »

Hi there,

I'm forever trying to improve the Swing. I need to get a couple of grab handles as the Swing is a pain to lift. It only has one moulded in grab "crevice" - you'd hardly call it a handle - and by the time you have lifted it on to your head you fingers and knuckles are about to snap. I've seen these handles on other yaks which are basically pieces of webbing encased in a contoured plastic grip, which you attach with a bolt/nut/washer at each end of the webbing. Does anybody know where to get these?

I've also been hunting plastic saddles to extend my mid point anchor trolley to the bow but can't seem to locate them (other than the gold plated titanium plastic harken version which cost a mint). Can anyone advise where to find these?

cheers Pete.

Hobie make a good carry handle, like the ones fitted to the outbacks, they have been fitted to other yaks before and work well. Check for a Hobie dealer near you, he will point you in the right direction.

Hi Pete,

I got them from eBay a few months ago.

The seller's ID is "713jazzman"

Cost me $AU 21 - and that included all fastening hardware and shipping from the US - a very good deal.

Cheers,

Mike.

Thanks Mike. I checked it out - that price is for a pair making it approximately half the price of any local option. I'll be ordering soon.

I was in BCF in Laverton not so long ago looking for the plastic saddles. I could not find them. Mike's US option looks to be the go. He's also got a couple of other bits that I want so a combined postage deal should work.

Thanks all for your help.
