When I got my sounder it came with a similar thing as the last link that you gave. I just filled it with silicone before I fitted it, also smeared some silicone from the inside as well and it works fine, looks neat too. The problem with cable glands is most, the plugs won't fit through the plastic threaded section and when you do get one that fits through the gland won't pull tight and seal on the cable .
