ABT GRAND FINAL 15-16 May- Diary/Trip Reports

Post by mattyp »

Well, this is where it starts with the journey to Forster, home of oyster racks and Eastern Yellowfin Bream, as I'm packing my bags trying to kept my luggage weight under 20kg. Packed away are 4 Bream Finesse Sticks and one Rack stick with 10lb braid and 12lb Sunline FC Rock fluocarbon as icing on the cake to try and scull drag some bruiser from the Oyster racks.
Tomorrow (Thursday) I fly out to Newcastle with Neil (Madfishman), Scotty B (ratdog) and Scotty Lovig (current ABT Champ) meeting up with other VicYak competitors Gary (rodman), attempting to bring this years title back to Vic again. To be honest, I'd be rapt if I can avoid the dreaded donuts and over the moon if I bag out on both days 8-) .........time will tell, but one thing for sure is it will be an experience of a life time for me and can't wait to cast my first lure into the drink on prefish day Friday.
Over the three days fishing I'll give some updates when I can on how things are travelling with the Vic attack on the trophy up for grabs and i'm sure some of the others Vic boys will contribute as well.
Cheers,
Matty

You don't have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.

Bring the Trophy "home" to Victoria guys, good luck and if nothing else comes your way, may the experience be a great one.

Matty don't forget the diet "No Donuts" ok!!!!!!!!!!!
