my fav for trout fishing at Blue Rock is this:

Works a treat up this way as well, particularly on a slow day, super slow cast and retrieve, or in the silver colour trolled (never had much luck with trolling darker colours now that I think about it)

I've done countless hours trolling for marlin and tuna,
The one rule i stick to when trolling is on dark days troll dark lures and bright days troll bright lures.
I'm sure that same rule would apply to trout but I'd also think if you were useing cow bells you might want to apply the rule to them also.

Too true Tip, water clarity tends to be a bigger factor in trout waters for colour choice even over bright/dark days. Caught plenty of trout on dark lures, just never on dark blades, lots on silver and gold blades though, going back over some catch logs it's almost 20:1 shiny to matt/dark never actually looked at that before. And now I'll never use a dark blade trolling so bound to really blow out

Just like to add a little more to this in the hope it can help others out and save them time.
As a lot of you know i just did a trip to Lake Tyres, to those that dont know the water there is stained an extreamly dark tea colour.
I have a short handle net and it was a real struggle to even see that once it was in the water, thats how dark the water colour is.
Anyhow i started of throwing some SP's, i was useing Squidgies Wrigglers in bloodworm,
I was also useing a gulp grub in olive green just bouncing on the bottom as i drifted along.
So i was working a brightish SP in dark water and doing nothing much with a dark sp in the same dark water.
The first 2 flatties and first bream i caught came in on the dark green sp.
I really wanted to catch a nice flattie on the other rod as its a lighter class so i switched the roles the rods were doing.
I was now working the dark green sp and just letting the lighter one bounce along the bottom seeing thats how i picked up my first 3 fish.
Low and behold it wasnt my action that was wrong as the dark green SP was still catching the fish.

If you think about it, to a human we see bright things better in the dark but to a fish, why should a Sp be bright on a dark day,

Yep, pretty much go by the same rule Tipsta, dark lures in dark water, light lures in light water.
