Wetting the new TI

Post by cybertrouts »

Picked up my new TI Saturday morning. Have not been off the water since.
Here's a bit from Saturday - all taken within the first 2 hours of being on the water in it.
I think I'm in love. And yes, I do make a dill of myself in this - but it's the real deal
Oh, and I inked it Sunday within the 3 casts I made before I had to reef in the sheet and get some more speed!

WoW mate I have a grin from ear to ear from listening to that, great stuff and cannot wait to catch up for a look and sail with you. I still get the same feeling each and every time I take the AI out, lovit. I am told solo sailing is best done from the rear seat on the TI so if you haven't tried it, it may be worth a go. Glad you even managed an inker, struth I don't think I kept mine still enough for at least the first week to even attempt to ctch anything, you have done well to contain yourself

Rhino I was going to edit out that bit, but then I thought I'd leave the sounds of fear and exhilaration in my voice for all to hear. Still grinning ear to ear!

Yes Jim - Safety Beach. Picked somewhere I knew ... just in case (and there's land on two sides! Sort of...)

Bozzie, I had to wait maybe 2.5 months from ordering it and paying a deposit to getting it. If you dare - get your order in!

Eddie, I haven't tried from the back yet - I have read that they travel better with the weight to the rear. Instead I spent the weekend climbing back and forth - front for sailing, back for fishing (where the rod holders are). To be honest, don't even know how to rig it up to use from the back seat - if it's different...?? What was great was having the pedals in both so I could just move around and take care of everything.

Had trouble with steering at speed but I did not lock down the rudder so that may have been the issue. Will do that next time and see how I go.

It's also funny how enormous the TI becomes when trying to store it down the side of a 100 year old single-fronted workers cottage in Richmond. Will have to look in to options - I'm thinking a trailer and storage but depends on cost.
Cheers

Store issue is easily fixed, just leave it at my place, I won't mind washing the dust off for you  and am certain I can make space in the shed so it is undercover
Sorry cannot help you with the rigging as I haven't had the opportunity to look at one up close and personal yet. There was a bit about it on the Hobie USA forum for memory but I was not up to reading and absorbing it when I found it.

Glad you are enjoying it though, I know you have been waiting a while.

Ahhh...
Seems I need to lock the rudder down with the little locking device they have installed.
It will not turn right at high speed if not locked - this was my problem.
Just had to youtube it.

I'm fighting it but each day I get a little closer to a new AI, at least I've ruled the TI out now, won't fit in the garage :yahoo:
