Il be giving a look at the manual for my model and giving Lowrance another call I'd say
I had the head unit replaced twice on a HDI 5 but inside the one year of buying it both times water had got inside it -- they wouldn't replace the navioncs card though

both times the unit had not been under water as I hadn't flipped my kayak and the water ingress was just from splash

Or an old chirp five or seven inch for about 300

Banging my head against the preverbial wall here, what to do?
Ask if there is anyone around who wants to buy a fancy unit for 50% off if they will give you 25-30% of the difference, then use the difference towards a new one???

Thought if that rich, but I think the headache ain't worth the hassles.
I think Il take up the offer of an old 7 inch chirp elite and plug my old nav card in, for around 300

I’ve run Dragonfly with only issue having corrosion on the plug from the Transducer/power but that was an easy fish.
Had a Humminbird with downscan also and that was (is good). Got the new hook 2 5 Tripleshot which Nathan uses but personally I don’t like it & as mentioned before, they cut corners on the shoddy O’Ring type plugs which will fail very quickly unless you NEVER take the finder off

I've only had garmin, so im not familiar with any other brands, apart from good reports of functions  there is limited reports on design faults causing water ingress as most sounders are designed for boat use, but in saying that garmin is one that has garrenteed the use of it's sounders for kayak use, the issues associated with the terminals corroding is not a design fault, im not sure how the terminals are done on other brands but one of the reasons i chose garmin was the way they mould the terminals into the casing, this allows the only way for water to penatrate is via the main seal, however this does not include models with card slots.

Im assuming that card slots will soon become obsolete with the integration of WiFi in units
