Stealth hatch mods.
I have settled on using a diy battery pack consisting of 3x 18650 some single holsters wired in series and a mobile dry bag all water proof deutsch connections. I have plastic welded a modified hobie padeye to clip the drybag to. I ran the sounder for 6 hours at work the voltage dropped to from 12.4 to 9.6v. I will be having a spare pack to plug in on standby. The battery are from an old laptop so I will leave invest in some new ones when I have tested this setup out. Most of my trips a short sessions only fishing a 3 hr window. I have also added a bungee storage solution and repaired a crack in the rear well.

Re: Stealth hatch mods.
Looks good frank the FPV setup use what i assume to be a waterproof junction box, have you thought about doing the same?
Rather than running 3 batteries in series, you could run 2 sets in series then parallel to up your amps, this would remove the need to carry spares and ensure a good supply.
Your definitely on the right track

The FPV is a great unit, however this cost me $10.00 so far. I like the back as a precaution rather then relying on one source. A high amperage would be great though.

I ment for you to use a junction box to put your batteries in, then put a waterproof cable outlet for supply and charging.inshorebrawler wrote:The FPV is a great unit, however this cost me $10.00 so far. Could idea Peter, I did have a small water tight container however, one of my staffys decided she wanted it more s i resorted to the bag idea. If it does not work ill find a clip lock container like the previous one. The junction box would be a pain to check id you lost power.

Yeah i also thought that a junction bow could prove a pain, must admit i use a clip lock lunch style box, however this was/is meant to be a temporary situation till i decide on my permanent fixture, im leaning towards either an FTP 17AH or a diy of similar design once i upgrade to a bigger screen sounderinshorebrawler wrote:I ment for you to use a junction box to put your batteries in, then put a waterproof cable outlet for supply and charging.[/quotepeatop wrote:inshorebrawler wrote:The FPV is a great unit, however this cost me $10.00 so far. Re: Stealth hatch mods.
it's all about having a bit of fun with kayak mods. I tend to invest more energy into the mods than fishing lately
