What sort of cord did you use? Has it got stretch? What do you clip them to on the rod?
I use some large swivels zip tied on the butts to clip leashes to.I was also clipping them to the rod holder stems, just had a lesson in how thats not such a great idea..Not much use if rod and holder both go overboard.

4mm shock cord. I've tied a bit of 3mm paracord onto the rods with a hoop big enough for the clips. I'll also be securing them to the yak rather than the rods.

How do you go inserting rods in the rocket launchers with these attached, do the clips foul them? Or is your attachment point up near the reel, if so does that tangle with reel operation?

Not got that far. I mainly did it for the Berkeley holders which are not right at hand. Haven't tried the launchers yet. Only put the paracord to the threaded part of the butt where you mount the reel.
