Silicone will give you trouble over time. Marine goop is a better option.

The best system is one that involves water around the transducer as any voids of air will not give a good sonar reading.

If you go the Mastic way try to get some water under the transducer similar to what Laneends posted earlier.

Out of curiosity can you please elaborate. Ive used Silicon and would like to know what to look for over time.

The oils in the plastic off the hull will overtime effect the silicone bonding to the plastic, the marine goop is an oil based adhesive (toluene) so less affected by oils in plastic.

The edges will start to lift where they feather down thin towards the hull.

I'm currently using Sikaflex-291 for my Dragonfly in hull transducer mount.
So far so good 7months now :up:
